In order to provide a better communication experience for its customers and to also improve internal efficiency, Brimhall Industrial has upgraded its legacy phone system to a modern system. The new phone system will allow customers to call into the company and enter the extension number of the person they want to reach. If that person is not available, depending on how each users extension is setup, the call will be forwarded either to the user’s voicemail or their cell phone. By eliminating the middleman (operator), Brimhall Industrial hopes to improve customer service and improve efficiency. |

Brimhall Industrial recently updated its website, giving it a new look and feel. The new features are the first to be released in a series of planned updates that are expected to be released every quarter. Changes to the website include a new company logo, improved color coordination to facilitate reading, and more content describing how Brimhall Industrial can add value to its customers’ organizations and operations. Another new feature is a Careers section that will allow talented people interested in a career at Brimhall Industrial to submit their resumes.
“We revised the site because we wanted to improve the user experience and also become more visible to potential customers. We don’t want to just fix our customers’ equipment; we want to be part of the solution to their problems, to be knowledge and solution providers and we feel that improving our website is part of that,” commented Michael Brimhall, Vice President of Operations. Beyond aesthetic considerations, the company also has plans to develop customer support and training features to incorporate into the website. “Our purpose is to help our customers be successful and there is so much more to it than simply repairing equipment. We want to provide our customers with tools and training that will help them improve their operations and increase their profitability and efficiency,” Michael said.
The website has already seen an increase in traffic and new visitors. Michael attributes this to the skills and knowledge of the company’s web consultant, Scott Brimhall. “Scott has extensive experience in web design and has really made this work. He has a very creative mind and was the driving force for a lot of the improvements we made, not to mention his amazing coding and design skills. We couldn’t have done it without him.”
When asked about the new logo, Michael commented that the “smoke stacks above the company name reflect a partnership between Brimhall Industrial and its industrial customers. The stacks are above the company name to symbolize that customers come first.” He also mentioned that the blue puff of smoke represents clean air, a reflection on the company’s values of responsibility and integrity. These ideas are at the heart of the company’s operations. The new website is sure to prove this out as more customers benefit from its new features. |

Repairing industrial equipment presents some special challenges. Most equipment sent out for repair has already been repaired many times. This implies that the components have been through many iterations of copying or modification to the point that it is difficult to know what the OEM dimensions were. Also, equipment is often received already disassembled, making it virtually impossible to identify problem areas and potential risks that could jeopardize assembly and even operation.
By incorporating Alibre Design into its planning process, Brimhall Industrial can leverage the power of 3D modeling and assemblies to reverse-engineer equipment and determine what the original dimensions were, how to improve them, and also prevent assembly or operating problems. “Alibre Design allows us to assemble an entire pump and check clearances and interferences before it even makes it to the shop floor,” said Michael Brimhall, Vice President of Operations.
Using Alibre Design also helps ensure quality. Working drawings are automatically generated from the 3D models, ensuring that the dimensions in the drawings always match the dimensions in the model. This also makes revision control much simpler. Alibre Design will indicate whether a revision to a component affects other components in an assembly and will automatically update the working drawings with the revisions.
“This tool separates Brimhall Industrial from its competitors because we are no longer simply repairing pumps; we are reverse-engineering them and creating higher quality processes at the same time,” Michael tells us. The combination of Brimhall Industrial and Alibre Design will set a new standard for value-added industrial repairs. |
